Welcome to Plotly Analytics

Learn the Art of Giving Life to Data………

Using R programming – the de-facto open source programming language for Data  Science in both industry and research.

The notion that “Data is the New Oil” has been around for quite some time. Generally credited to mathematician Clive Humby:

Data is the new oil. Like oil, data is valuable, but if unrefined it cannot really be used. It has to be changed into gas, plastic, chemicals, etc. to create a valuable entity that drives profitable activity. so, must data be  broken down, analysed for it to have value.

Clive Humby

Businesses use data as their single biggest assets to remain competitive.

This has lead to demand for data science talent. Supply, meanwhile remain too scarce to meet that demand. This has led to Data Science and Machine Learning being open up to new roles, such as Citizen Data Scientist.

Citizen Data Scientist is a person who generates data insights or uses Machine Learning models for predictive analytics, but whose primary job function is outside of a field of Statistics and Analytics. Thus, many citizen data scientists come from varied backgrounds  such as Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Social and Medical Science to name a few.

In order to become a citizen data scientist, you require three primary skills:

– A basic programming skills (You don’t need to be an expert programmer or have computer science degree)
– A basic understanding of mathematics and statistics (You don’t need to be a PhD holder in stats and maths. You already know the basics if you are a graduate)
– Domain Knowledge (You already have it!)

Plotly Analytics is started with a mission to help professionals like you in “giving life to data”. We make easier to learn data science by focusing on most relevant topics and providing in-depth learning materials that you can understand regardless of your professional or educational background.

Our learning resources are available as Blog Posts (this site), Youtube videos and E-books. Nearly everything we teach is 100% FREE, with exception of some of the resources.

In short, our learning resources will help you become citizen data scientist.

We use R programming language in all our learning resources.

R is open source programming language designed to carry out statistics, Data manipulation and data visualization. The R language is de-facto language used by Data Scientist across the world to build Machine Learning models and carry out exploratory data analysis. It is also widely used in Research and Academics due to its high end statistical routines for quantitative analysis.
